In my 24 plus years of metal detecting, I had never gone this long without finding a silver coin. It has been nearly 10 weeks since I dug my last silver coin. With the unbearable heat over the last month or so really haven't been hitting it that much. I decided to put away my "B" machine I was using the last couple of weeks that netted me nearly 100 clad quarters and give the trusty old Explorer a try in this different park Park Pirate and I have been hitting. Wouldn't you know it, the first target I dug was a wheat cent / mercury dime stacked on top of each other !! Ground is bone dry and digging is real tough. Added a 1936 Buffalo nickel before the heat and humidity forced me to quit. In the photo is an unknown copper I dug in the same park a couple weeks ago. Not enough detail to identify but could be a worn King George copper. We need a couple days of a good soaking rain.....I might have to get out the water machine and hit the swimming holes and creek beds to try and beat the heat.
