Long handle sand scoop???

Ken43

New member
I see there a lot of sand scoops out there. I have two artifical knees so I would like to get a long handle sand scoop. What are your recommendations???

Plenty of good aluminum ones out there too, but stainless will outlast and out perform the aluminum. For some odd reason, wet sand like to stick to aluminum while it will slide off of stainless steel. Stainless steel is a little bit heavier to carry than aluminum but if you are hunting in the waters it shouldn't make that much difference. And if you are only hunting the dry sand then go with aluminum.

And the heaviest.. I have both and prefer the aluminum Bill Babbs scoop with the stainless lip.. I have used it to pry large rocks up with no ill effects at all...I have used it for almost 3 years now and its still in great shape..

get the largest alum.. scoop you can handle then bolt on a stainless steel frount end still using it ten years ....The alum. is a little thinner but still liter then ss scoop.. I bought my scoop at k,co do not think that they sell them any more Was called monster scoop holds gallon&half of sand well worth the $135.00 I payed for it in 1996 . good luck on your hunt for the scoop that fits you..

Thanks for all the input guys. I ordered a scoop from a friend who is a dealer in northorn CA. He had just what you guys suggested. By the way he agreed with most of you.
