Lone Star?

New member
I've been detecting off and on for about a year, using an older VLF detector, I wasn't getting many results. So after some research, and some saving i purchased a new BH Lone Star. Has anyone had any luck with this model? I didn't want to spend a boat load of money since i am still fairly new to the hobby.

Phrankie, I've seen the Lone Star in use at some of my MD club's hunts and it
did real well competing with more expensive units at the shallow depths of club
hunt coins, at least. One of the owners said he's found coins in mild ground at
over 6 inches but hasn't used it in more mineralized ground to see any difference.
He did say that he really likes it's 3-tone audio ID, ease of use and other coils to
use. He also said he always uses headphones as well. I'd also suggest that's best,
with any detector.
Good luck with yours!

Swung a Fortune Hunter for sometime before I got my Landstar. Fortune Hunter is the Lone Star twin. Had a great time with it. Was great for targets in the 4-6 inch range and good for them a little deeper. Dug a wheat at about 7-8 inches in good park soil. Pulled a 52 silver Roosie at about 5-6 inches in the same park. Pulled about $35.00 in 2 1/2 months out of a small park. Have good soil here so I run wide open on the sens. and about 9:00 on the disc. in disc mode. At first dig all targets until you know what it's telling you. Never pass up on a good repeatable target or when in doubt dig, dig, dig. Happy Huntings:detecting:

Still going through the learning process with mine. Have had a Pioneer 505 for about six years and wanted to try another model. Went out last weekend with my Lone Star, to my local park and in a two hour period found about Twenty Zinc, fourty or fifty pull-tabs and a few clad pennies, at about four inches. Also found a few dimes and quarters from 1990's. Lone Star is a very easy to use. Can not wait for the weekend to go out again.
Have fun, I know I am.
