Looking to purchase a new lone star, just curious how good of unit this was?. torn between the Discovery 2200,and the lone star.I searched the forum not much about the lone star.

thanks Jim

I personally use the lone star. For the money, its a great little unit. I use mine in parks and schoolyards when I coinshoot, and it does quite a nice job. Your right in noting that this isn't one of Bounty Hunter's most popular models, but its still a solid detector and, in my opinion, somewhat underrated. I don't have any experience with the Discovery 2200, but from the looks of things, it offers a few more features (more target ID segments, depth readout) that the lone star doesn't. Either detector would be a good choice.

I use the Fortune hunter/Lone star, I really like it. I also use it for coin shooting in the parks and tot lots. I have gotten dimes as deep as 8 inches and it really is an underrated unit. No complaints with it at all. I use the stock coil but I also have the 4 inch coil that's usually on the most.
