Log Cabin Site Finds

7Creeks

New member
Spent the morning with HighTone hunting an old log cabin. Trash and iron everywhere and huge area to hunt. Managed to get a clad dime, 2 cents and 1 wheatie. Relic finds are a nice big buckle, little button, and a gas light valve. Some copper and iron scrap. And one piece I need help identifying. It says NAVY backward with a star above it. Not sure why NAVY would be a mirrored.

That Navy piece is downright interesting!

I am going to think outside the box and say its not a mirrored NAVY badge, but really a YVAN badge especially if it was found up north in hockey country......that star above YVAN might just be some sports souvenir related to Yvan Cournoyer who was a star hockey player for the Montreal Canadiens in the 70's retiring in 1979.......the date on the dime certainly places it in his playing career.

This is found in southeast Ohio where other war world one items have been found. I doubt it has anything to do with hockey. Hockey was never big around here. Plus the N is mirrored.

Maybe the YVAN thingie is a stamp ??? To mark letters patriotically .
New ones would be rubber, but that looks WWII-ish to me.
I know old printing blocks were metal.

Right about the printing stamp. But it was used with wax to put a seal on.
