locomotive button

Thanks for all of your assistance on the Fashion Button ... now I need direction to search for a button that is in such bad condition that I cannot get a good photo of it.

The button is 5/8" in diameter, dark metal (don't know what type), it shows a locomotive on the face of the button. The locomotive is facing toward the right side of the button and seems to have an open coal tender behind it ... very difficult to see it clearly. I found it near a river's edge in Midland, Michigan. I think there was a lumber mill, etc. in that area in the late 1800s.

I will continue to try to get a photo; however, if there is a place to look for locomotive buttons that might help.

Thanks, Sheldon

I dug one the other day, it also says The Railroad on it. I also walked a few feet further and dug a small button that says superior on it. Both from overalls I suspect.

Towvan, I suspect you are correct ... I have uploaded a VERY POOR photo of the button as seen from the underside of the button to my original message. The top of the button is very difficult to see. Thanks for your ideas, Sheldon

I sent the following message stating that I had uploaded a photo of the button; however, I can't find the photo ... so here is the message again and hopefully the photo makes it this time.

Good idea ... I think I found one on ebay being sold as part of a group of four ... those buttons are in much better condition than mine but I can see enough to identify it.

Many thanks, HH

Maybe some day I can return the favor ... Sheldon

If it's like this one I think it's an overall button.
