locking cam question

recout

New member
I have a straight shaft with a locking cam. The type you twist. The problem i have is that it will not tighten on the lower shaft tight. Is there anything I can do to make it work? How do i take it off? I have one on my stock shaft i could take off and use.. thanks for any help

Plugger. They work great and the adjustments are infinite. You have to remove the back retaining ring and then it will come off.

I used a hack saw and sawed off the shaft right behind the cam lock. Then I stuck one of these on.

You realy don't need a cam lock. I don't use one on my custom light weight shaft. Here's what to do...Notice that the snap pin that locks into various holes to adjust the length of the shaft only has one head popping out of the shaft. There are two heads on that thing. Take apart the two shafts and then drill the adjustment hole all the way through the other side of both shafts, so that now both heads can pop through the shafts. This will greatly stiffen things up and take out the slop. Make sure you drill the hole straight and use the right size drill bit.

While you are doing this also flip the snap pin upside down so it's an upside down "V". I like to do that because it puts it a little further away from the coil. It probably doesn't matter but why not?
