Locked ground balance

What is gained by locking the GB switch? My ground is not highly mineralized. Rob

There is times I have found when checking a iffy or a weak signal and you keep going over the target to see if it is one you will dig in tracking you can track out the target. In this case I will see it is one I want to check out further as it is weak or iffy, so I will ground balance and lock. Now I can go over the target without worry about it tracking the target so I get no signal on it.

While pinpointing the depth is a lot more accurate with the lock on, than with it in auto track....for me, I think I get a stronger signal from deep targets with the lock on. After I ground balance I lock it, then from time to time just flip it to auto track, switch to prospecting mode, see if the ground has changed, lock it back, and hunt on. ken-ks

Lock it for air testing too. I use to didn't do this and it makes a big difference. Just set it to manual before you turn your machine on.

Hi Rob: If your ground isn't too variable in makeup, you are best to search with locked ground balance. You will pick up extra depth ability searching in locked mode.
Here's how to do it: Search in Auto ground balance for a couple of minutes, to let the machine get accustomed to the ground comp.
Then, switch to locked ground balance.
Simple, huh? Best wishes, Kevin from Ipswich, Mass. :smoke:

Thanks for the responds. Rob
