Locating black sand deposits - ie for goldpanning....

Can the XLT be programmed to find blacksand?? The reason I ask is we have flour gold here in the U.P. If I'm not mistaken the gold would settle in with the hvy blacksand in creek beds. Thanks!

You could always pan a site and see if the black sand has gold, then MD it and play with setting to come up with a plan. I would be interested what you find. I am planning a trip to gold country next year and looking to MD for panning sites. Maybe someone will help us out, who has done this before.

Good luck

RJ

I figured somebody would know more than I do on this subject. The way i figure it if I turn autotrac off, gb than crawl along the black sand should either null or sound off positivly. I figure this would be better than just picking a random spot or bend to pan in. Seasons gone by to darn cold now!!! Next year!! Thanks all.
