Call the local park as it said no metal detecting on the sign. I called and asked why that is?? They said to many dig huge holes and leave a mess. I asked if I came down and showed them the flaps I can make and you can barely tell I was there if it would be ok. THEY SAID YES!!! So I proceeded down to the offices and seen the supervisor. We went out and I dug the first thing I had go off.

This could not have worked out better this was amazing luck to show this guy. I cut a 3" c in the ground for the flap after showing him the pinpoint feature as I FINALLY figured that out. I push the small garden shovel in the the depth and flipped it. And lo and behold the dam thing was in plain site at the bottom of the hole. He was like WOW that is impressive. I replace flap and showed him what it looks like after and he said " You can come here all you want"

That was just amazing luck on my part. But he took my name and gave it to the rangers.

I was olny there for 2 hours and only found a bunch of pulltabs and 6 pennies but hey its a park all to myself for now!!!!!

I also told him I would toss all the trash I dig.

I am learning this detector at a nice pace, The more I use it the easier it becomes!!!!!

:)

Good for you! Thats how we are gonna repair our image! My hats off to you.:garrett:

Keep swingin' that thing Stix, the good stuff is just around the corner for you. Kudos on going through the proper channels to get permission, that's a move that will pay off every time, win, lose or draw.

stix, have patience and the coins will come. you will have days where all you seem to dig is trash, then the next day a nice mercury dime or silver barber quarter will be in your plug. research is very important too, look for the old church picnic grounds or picnic groves that were used years ago. once you locate one, the old coins will show up. we located a church picnic grove a few years ago and it has produced over 40 silver coins and several old nickels and indian head pennies plus all kinds of other neat finds. good luck!

That's awesome stix. It's a real shame that a few can ruin it for everyone. Thanks for showing the rangers we all ain't bad!

Thanks all. I really want to find somthing better than a penny soon lol

Don't worry - you will. The trick is getting out there, and you seem to have mastered that. :) I haven't been able to get out as much as I'd like, but with a 3-day weekend coming up...who knows? Fingers crossed!

Thanks. Yes I have been out everyday since getting it. Prolly have 18 hours in or more. Its funny how you start just doing things better and learning the beeps. The pinpointing once I got that down helped a bunch. My pro-pointer will be here tomorrow and that will speed it up alot. I have been all over these few days.

I even went out today and tested the Ace in the river. It was odd if I started the machine out of the water and walked in I got false signals even when set on three. But if I started it in the water and set to three it worked like a charm. I only pulled tabs and aluminum canoe parts but it worked flawlessly.

I am having so much fun out there and the kids love going with me. My kids are starting to bug me for one of there own lol. I am really surprised at how many places I have gotten permission in just a short time. I guess if you don't ask you don't know :)

Get out there TN_girl :) Let us know what ya find!!!

Good for you. It is truly rare to find some one with the time and patience that will allow you to show them the right way to do it.
