Local detector finds Stanley Cup ring and returns it after 40 years.

Story was on ABC action news (Pinellas, Florida). Looked like it was lost about 40 years ago and returned to its owner. No word on if the finder recieved any type of reward or not, Maybe someone knows more.

Being a Hockey Fan, I had to go out and find the story...
Did a quick google search--detector Stanley ring

The Star--Stanley ring found

CTV.CA Stanly Ring Found

GO Norfolk Admirals!!! (Local AHL Club--Having Fan Fest this Saturday 11-2)
Go Washington Capitals!!

The story says the ring was lost at a vacation home in Vero Beach which is located on the east coast of Fl. Now they say it was found at Clearwater Pass on the West coast of Fl. My question would be how did it get from the east coast to the west coast. Any theory's? Maybe a fish or bird tranported it.
