I have been out of detecting for about 15 years. Man have things changed. I bought, while visiting Phoenix ariz, a new LST. Thought being that I live near the mother load I could do some nugget hunting and coin diggin. My first time out in one of my favorite old parks I found a bunch of trash, one clad quarter and one gold high school ring 1977. Trying to hook up with the owner at this time. Been trying out the disc mode but don't trust it. I don't want to miss any gold rings (found yeastrdays ring in all metal mode) Any one out there own one of these machines? Could use some coaching. Thanks Don

Don, You will be safe in disc mode set at 2-3 for rings with the Lobo ST.

Don,
Why did you hunt in the All Metal mode? Did you know it would work?
The Lobo ST has one of the better autotrack cicuit designs yet made, at least in my opinion, but did you really think that it would work 'OK' for you?
I'd be willing to bet you hunted in All Metal and didn't have a problem with the autotrack circuitry because you believed in them. Right?
Well, why don't you believe in the Discriminate circuitry? Have you had bad experiences with other makes & models? If you set the Disc. control at about the 1

Thanks Monty
I'm just used to 20 year ago technology and am just overwhelmed by whats new out there today. I just need to get used to this machine, in other words, learn it. So far its comming along just fine. I just need more time off. Thanks again!!

The best way to learn the LST is to first air test different items in the disc mode, iron, coins, rings, ect. My LST knocks out most iron trash with the disc mode set at almost 3, another person I know sets his at 2 1/2. Another good idea is to make a test garden with known items buried at measured depths. What I do is hunt in the all metal mode, with the threshold hum set where I can barely hear it, then switch to disc mode to check target value. With the disc mode at almost 3, iron will have a double beep, coins and gold will only have one beep. Don with a little practice you will soon find that you have one of the most stable MD's on the market.

but them I am a bit biased.
One of the things that makes it difficult for many oldtimers to get used to the Tesoro's or White's Classic's or other makes and models that are silent search in the Disc. mode is that they are too used to listening to the threshold audio. I am one of those myself, even though I have been enjoying silent-search Tesoro's for over twenty years!
Quite often I hunt in All Metal just so I can monitor the audio threshold. Old habit, perhaps, and that's one of those things you might be trying to overcome.
Just work with the LST and I am sure you'll find it is a very decent detector.
