Lobo SuperTraq

Ranger1

New member
Hey folks, I am fairly new to detecting and after all the research and reviews I have decided to purchase a Tesoro. I had just about decided on the Vaquero because of the manual ground balance but, since I located a Lobo SuperTRAQ locally I have a couple of questions first.

* The Lobo SuperTRAQ is (new in the box) that was purchased around 1997 or 1998. Has there been any changes over the years as it looks identical to the current LST?
* How well does the Computerized Ground Tracking System react to different soil types especially here in Georgia?
* It also has the reputation of being an all around detector. Whats your thoughts on this?

* Also, he also has a Sidewinder uMax (new in box) purchased in 97 or 98 that I was thinking of getting for my daughter to use. Not much info out there on this one. Any info is appreciated.

I almost bought a Lobo a while back and was discouraged from doing so. My intent was to use it for coin, jewelry and relics and I was pretty much advised and reminded that first and foremost this is a prospecting tool and secondly a "metal detector for everything else". This is the advise I was given some time ago in one of the forums and was made to feel if i want to coin shoot and hunt for rings there are prehaps better options. I would love to hear from the Lobo owners on this. Is this indeed something suitable for searching parks, along sidewalks and around houses, apartments and various other urban settings?

I ended up with the Vaquero and so far I love it !

I can only speak from what a friend of mine told me about his experience with the lobo st. The lobo is first and formost made for nugget hunting, BUT, it works extremely well for hunting relics. Very sensitive and loves iron. It the parks and tot lots it works O.K. but he continually finds himself digging tiny foil and other junk that a 'coin' detector ignores. Good for jewelery, loves gold.
From what he said, it sounded to me like it was a great all around detector, but there would be better choices for hunting parks and playgrounds.

Hi,

my Lobo ST is running in "adjusted" mode now, I did play a bit with trimmer R33 (and K10 - only touch), and results are, after couple comparing test:
1. Frequency probably move, cause other LOBO ST with the same 10x12 HOT had no disturbed it the same style as before. In distance 3-4 meters - no any didggg rhriigg in headphones, only no any signal. Fantastic, but dangerous for club trips.
2. LST in disc mode in sens pure 10 and disc 2 and threshold 80-90% is going deeper then before (I cannot indexed other machines here, it is clear). Running over machines as have been never before.
3. In my standard former settings - Sens in red but no in max, Thresh in max, disc 1 and half and some - it is first time unstable, now. I can heard coil moving! Great! If is targeted good metal, disturb noise is quite and you can heard "standard" LST goose noise - clean and straight.
4. In this setting - adjusted - is better going in normal and for pinpointing switch to Black sand mode and it is OK.
5. GB for disc is I suppose at this moment negative, nice negative.

regards
