Lobo SuperTraq for Coin & Jewelry

Hi everyone,

I am curious, if there is anyone who uses or prefers, the Lobo SuperTraq exclusively for Coin & Jewelry hunting?

Any insights/experiences would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

Happy Hunting!

I use it as a coin and jewelry machine. It is fixed GB in discrimination but in my parks it gets good depth due to mild soil. Hits deep on low conductors and is very sensitive to tiny targets. The tone is alot zippier on the Lobo ST than other Tesoros I have used an I swear that I hear 2 different tones depending on target conductivity. Pulltabs, nickles, aluminum, etc all seem like crisper higher tones to me and pennies, dimes, quarters seem a little lower in tone and muddier sounding. I am still getting used to the machine. I have another Tesoro with manual GB that hits deep on low conductors so I may just end up getting rid of mine. So in my opinion it is a worthy coin and jewelry machine but Tesoro makes better models for that purpose.

its a Dave Johnson detector so it will sound different to other Tesoro's more like a fisher if one was to compare.

so yeah no reason for it to not be a good coin hunter..

I read several years ago it would hit a dime,at 10".
No problem in all metal, but in air tests on my unit in disc mode it hits but not a repeatable signal I would dig.

I just got a used Lobo ST in yesterday.Keith Southern has a video where he adjusted the internal gb and was hitting his 10" & 12" dimes. Before the adjustment the max depth was about 7" - 7 1/2" dime. I adjusted the gb on mine turning it neg so when you lift the coil there is a slight tone. They are set way to positive. Now hitting my 9" & 10" test dimes and that is the the 8" round concentric coil. A favorite coil for me.

I took it to an old school site in an area that is loaded with iron. I haven't dug anything there in a year. The last targets came out with my Tejon. Today I dug several targets including a 1910 Wheat and a 1904 Barber dimes. I haven't seen any coins out of there for at least 3 years. So I was very impressed with the Lobo ST today and it is now my favorite detector. I was impressed.

Here are the finds today.

Wow very interesting, especially that you are using the 8 donut coil. Thanks for posting!

I haven't used the round coil in many years,10 ??, as the oval rocks, goes deeper, more stable in wet black sands and still pops some amazingly small nuggets and tiny earring studs too. My original small oval was stolen in a truck breakin but not made for any period of time for some reason, winding oval in that small of a coil was problematic I guess. Anyhow My GB2 and TLST are my favorites and always together . John

The Lobo is absolutely awesome on coins (about all I found at a giant school yard I hunt regularly). The audio is remarkable, I love it, pinpointing is super easy.
School yards in my area generally produce coins at 4-6+ inches, i did pluck several coins out at about 6 inches. Zincolns dont break up until max disc, and incidentally, the zincs were of the deeper digs, which I found unusual and not typical for my area(s).
The audio is quite distinct and will take some practice, but I really like it, looking forward to learning its whole spectrum and stat pullin' some jewels! :tesoro:

That's the righteous answer Carlos-PRACTICE and it will come with the fortitude-John

Yes Sir, patience and practice. I'll admit, patience is a bit of a challenge in the warm sun..I warm up real fast.
The Fisher chest mount harness arrives today...for some added practice/focus. I'm determined to harness the Lobo beastie potential,
I'm thinking having the control box right in my grill is going to help matters. Thanks for the good vibes
