Lobo super track

WV62

Well-known member
I have a Lobo super tack with the stock 5x10 WS coil, just thinking the 5x10 is a little big for working around in trashy areas for inland gold. Has anybody tried the NEL snake coil on the Lobo and if so what do you think of it?

Do you think the snake coil would be a good investment?

Also if I start looking for one, any ideas where I could get the best deal? I found a listing for one for $122

Try turning the sensitivity down to mininum to reduce the coil foot print. It still gets good depth even at mininum sensitivity. One of the best things about it.

Thinks Mike, that's a good idea.

the lobo ST is my favourite tesoro metal detector, works better in amongst iron than the tejon. my lobo is equiped with a detech ultimate 13" coil.

Years ago I purchased the Tesoro elliptical concentric 3-5/8" x 7-1/8" coil for hunting trashy areas. I sometimes hunt an old WW1 training camp dump that is LOADED with iron and I always keep the sensitivity down low to pick out the non-ferrous targets.

Texadillo,

I think I know the coil you are talking about, my brother had one about that size and it had the coil wire coming out of the top front of the coil and he called it a rhino coil.

Your low sensitivity kind of goes along with Mike's post above.

I owned a Tejon for a couple of years and I noticed that with that machine the size of the coil did not mean a lot in depth detection, big and small they were pretty close to the same.

I have had this Lobo ST in like new condition for over a year and have never hunted with it, I took it to the yard for a 30 minute check out and that is it. Kind of like JJdigs above I wanted a Lobo but when I got one I found I didn't really have a need for it. Now I am thinking the NEL snake coil would make a really good inland gold jewelry machine.

Ron I bought that smaller Tesoro coil back in the late 90's for my Diablo and LST. Now they may be a little difficult to find:shrug: I have never used an after-market coil on a Tesoro so I can't comment on them. You may also want to consider the smaller 5.75" (really 6") Tesoro concentric coil? Best of luck with what you choose and HH!
