Lobo ST...How good a relic hunter?

John(Tx)

Been doing some reading on the lobo st and it sounds like an excellent all around detector. Has anyone used it for relic hunting? How did it perform? I like the GB track feature. Thanks, John

it wouldn't be my first pick for that chore. There are units that balance better and have more depth than the LST.

"Been doing some reading on the lobo st and it sounds like an excellent all around detector."... I would say it is a GOOD detector for relic hunting, but not an EXCELLENT choice.

"Has anyone used it for relic hunting?"... Yes, I have. For a while a few years back it was my primary-use unit.

"How did it perform?"... It did 'OK', but like all makes and models you have to learn and appreciate both the stong poins and weak points.

The strength of the Lobo ST is really the fact that it hunt a bit quieter in iron trash than does the Tej

Just my opinion (and shared by some of my close friends) the Lobo has proven to be a great relic hunter, at least here in TN. It was the first Tesoro to give us very good depth. Most Tesoro's offer good trash separation, but the Lobo was the first Tesoro model to find bullets at depths beyond 10 inches. The sensitivity can frustrate some users who do not cherish buckshot (.30 caliber shot associated with "buck and ball" CW loads) and tiny pieces of melted lead. But it will also find percussion caps very well, even the small revolver size. I would like to see the Lobo configured to the U/Max style, as a lighter weight would be great. You can detach the control housing and hip or chest mount, which I find a good feature. It does very well on coins too. Setting the GB can be fidgety at times, but practice will improve this minor problem for beginners. I would run it slightly positive. Good hunting, David @ Dixie

is tied in with the Discriminate mode ... that way things ought to be!!
