Sometimes I start my machine and it asks me if I want to load quickstart. I move it to the yes setting, but nothing happens. When I try to move from there to a screen, it just beeps. Am I not waiting long enough for it to load or what? The manual is not overly clear on this. Thanks in advance, because I know that someone will help me on this...

Are you seeing quickstart or quickmask? If it is asking if you want quick mask then it will put you in the all metal mode. Turn machine on, hit menu button arrow over to modes and arrow down to Minelab mode coins and select it and then hit detect button. That way you are in the standard coin pattern.
