little off topic? glass question

I have a small cranberry coloured glass cup.

It has 1924 on it, if I look on inside and outside the 1924 is clear glass, I thought maybe glass is
dyed a ruby colour. Been tricked at flea market before with dishonest sellers and naive buyer, but this one I can't remove any surface or even scratch it? Found at garage sale for a dollar.

But even with a sharp knife/screwdriver the red colour is intact? Is this still a dyed glass?
weird or what?

Thanks for any info. oj/bc

I have a few pieces of ruby glassware from that era that are not dyed. One is a bowl from France. Are there any markings on the bottom?

you have the real ruby and clear glass not the flash type were they apply the red on the clear glass JimCVA

Is the date and writing actually clear as in transparent? or does it have an opaque frosted look to it ? Acid etching can cause that effect.
