Has anyone used the Koss QZ5's on a GP series detector? My UR30's have died and am looking to replace them. I know the QZ5's are only 60 ohm and that is why I am asking for some help. I really like the style of the QZ5's as I can wear my big brimmed hat.

Mike, I have a set of the behind the head, koss. The ones that you can get on Bills site or Radio Shack, for $15.00, they fit in the ear, and you can wear a big brim hat, they are good, and have a volume control in the line. I wear mine when it gets to hot for the Blackwidows. Did you get my Emails I sent you? Grubstake

Thanks Grubstake, yea I got your EMAIL's. I have a pair of Phillips behind the head, $15.00 headphones that work pretty well but was wanting to get that pair of Koss's from Doc's place. He has them for $45.00 plus shipping.

Yeh I got my Koss from radio Shack, they fit right in the ear, Shep use's a set also and my uncle. Its the only ones I found that let me wear a cowboy hat, while detecting. I got your reply on my email, sent you another one. Grubstake

That's why it is the only KOSS headphone I carry. I have the entire line of Grey Ghosts, Black Widows, Jolly Rogers etc. But the QZ5's are nice because they seal against the ear real well like the Grey Ghost line, but they go behind the head so you can wear any hat. The sound and tone are excellent.

I will tell you the one thing I don't like, they come with a 1/8 inch plug and a 1/8 to 1/4 inch adapter. I would rather it just be a 1/4 inch jack. I had to make a choice whether to rewire my personal pair with a 1/4 inch jack or use the adapter. Being I am lazy I opted to use the adapter but sealed in in place with a glob of Shoe Goo, which is like silicone, but sets up harder. Have not had any problems with them at all. I would like it if the cord on them was a bit more substantial like the Grey Ghost line.
