Little at max coil help

I recently got a at max,,and I’ve been reading so many conflicting reports on what coils work and what won’t work.Id sure hate to spend money if they don’t work..I’m looking at the nel thunder and possibly a concentric coil for the at max..Any info is greatly appreciated..thanks!!!!
 
Hello Bigtom I used to run the 8x11 stock coil and accidently cracked it, so I needed to buy a new coil and went with the 5x8 DD. I am absolutely pleased with it, have completely doubled my finds this year compared to last season. Just my opinion! HH
 
I have the A T Pro and NEL coils work very well on it. The Sharpshooter is a killer and is deep. HH jim tn
 
The 5" x 8" DD coil seems to be the favorite for many. Great separation and decent depth. Great for hunting in the woods and areas littered with junk.

Will try to explain what you are asking (I think).

I have both the AT Pro and AT Max.
ALL GARRETT coils work equally well on both the Pro and Max.
Now the NEL and Cors coils work great on the PRO I line the NEL sharpshooter on my PRO.NEL and CORS DO NOT have coils for the MAX (YET) they are building them just not out yet.
Some Nel coils seem to work on the Max and some don't. I took mine to Garrett's and they tested my NEL and told me my nel would NOT work on my Max because it was to far off freq.
Garrett uses software built into the machine, PRO GOLD MAX, to tune the coils to that machine.
NEL / CORS have to wind/Tune there coils to each machines freq. Pro 15 / Gold 13.6/ Max 18.6/

Hope this makes sense and helps. If you want a nel coil, just wait a little while they will be ready soon so NEL told me.
BTW I love the 6x9 concentric Garrett on my Max

When I saw the kHz for this three machines, I check with the Garrett site, It said Max 13.6 adjustable, Gold 18,and Pro 15. So, now does that mean that the Max is adjustable to the coil? Just wondering. Buddy what was the size of the Nel I coil that Garrett said would not work on the Max? I bought a Hunter coil from Nel and it seems to work good on the Max.I can not believe how many nickels that I find now with the Max compared to the Pro. Both are excellent machines,
 
Hands down the at max in all metal is the deepest,easiest machine I’ve owned.Ive had the at pro and many hours on it,loved it.But I hunt at night mostly and wanted a backlight..I am more than happy with the at max,honestly the best machine I’ve ever owned
 
[size=medium]You are correct on the freq numbers, I reversed the Gold and Max. Gold 18 khz, Pro 15 khz, Max 13.6. Yes all three are adjustable to GARRETT coils, but NEL and Cors have to be wound/tuned to each machine, ie AT Gold coils (18 khz NEL- Cors) are not tuned to work on the MAX at 13.6 khz.

I was wondering the Same thing about the NEL coils I also have the AT Max, But i just seen where NEL has a Coil out for the AT Max, The Tornado it is listed on the NEL website for the AT Pro / AT Max for 169.00. So I'm hoping that this listing is right since I have read all the replies on here and was also told to wait until they came out with a NEL coil just for the AT Max because some of them will work and some won't. I already own the 5 x 8 Double DD coil just wanted to get a bigger and deeper coil while i had the funds available.
