liquid mercury value

That's a tough one. I seem to recall someone trying to sell mercury on Ebay and the sale was removed. Apparently very hazardous ..

Yep, its is, it needs to go in a metal container, not glass. And if you ship it to someone, it has to go UPS not postal, they will hang you for that. I saw the feds close a school for a couple of days just because some brough some to school in a glass container and it broke, Hazmat was called in for clean up and the fines to the kids family were out of sight. Grubstake

Yep everyone is right. Actually I wouldn't want to be caught with it now days. However, I remember as a child my dad would constantly bring it home from the coal mines fo us children to play with. I'd have the best time puttng it on silver coins and just rolling it around on a concrete floor for hours of enjoyment. Lol

You might find a buyer in "alternative photographic methods" - some people are doing daguerreotypes again. That uses vaporized mercury. Freestyle is the only place I can think of that might buy something like that from you - they sell photographic items, film, chemistry, etc. Good luck.

$1850 per flask..Because mercury is so poisonous, it is actually pretty difficult for an individual to buy or sell it. The market just isn't there any longer, except for the large quantities used by industrial customers. No one would buy or sell just a few ounces. EPA will jump on you if you dont comply to handling regs to the letter..

However, in industrial quantities, the price per ounce is around a dollar. offers to buy and sell mercury run about $9-$18 per pound. With 16 ounces in a pound, that works out to a little less than a dollar per ounce to a little more. But as I write this, the smallest quantity being offered for sale is 25 pounds, for which the seller wants $10/pound.

Yes, they could use it in the primative jungle gold mining operations. May need to take it to Africa or such place and peddle it there... probably not worth it though! Good luck.

Reminder

Mercury is a toxic substance. Long term effects include birth defects. Ingested its a poison, in cuts its a poison.:stretcher:

Those that played with it as kids will develop an afinity for metal detecting and develop a liking to digging in the dirt for pocket change and whatever else comes there way. It's no "life of Riley"... Not to be confused with digging for Mercury's which is another story entirely....

Seriously try and turn it in to a Hazmat pickup point...
