Link toCompare finds with Ace 250 in 2005 and Prizm II 2004

Great post, I found it very interesting, looks like you and I have a couple of things in common, we have both been hunting 33 years and are both 74 and our health could be better. My legs are my problem, but hope to get out more this year since I purchased a 250 last year with both extra coils. Keep at it looking forward to your posts. HH Ken

I have used both the Prizm 111 and the Ace 250.The Prizm is a great detector but the Ace 250 is just a better detector. The Ace compares with a Prizm v because of all it's options like notching and tone ID.The Prizm v does use a 9.5" coil and a optional 8" but again the Ace even beats the Prizm on coil options.I think they are about equal in depth in the field, but again in my test garden and air test normal search mode the Aced edged out the Prizm. The strong point of the Prizm it pinpoints better than the Ace. All the Prizms can go into a solid pinpoint mode with a quick push of the button which the button doesn't need to be pressed. In this pinpoint mode my Prizm 111 would air test a clad quarter 12"-14" with a faint signal.Even with the pinpoint advantage I think the Ace is a better detector. Conclusion I sold the Prizm and kept the Ace when it was time to thin the herd. When I took some machines down to the coast, the 250 did better on the wet sand than the 1500 / 5x10 DD and the 1000 / 5.5" Ferrett on a newly buried dime.

A fellow there said that his Prizm was "Unuseable" in the wet sand. I was surprised that the inexpensive 250 did so well. It also handled mineralized soil better than some other more expensive machines I tested it against in another comparison.

I posted a target seperation test on another forum in the 'metal detecting' forum there and the Ace scored well there also.

The only negative I have about the 250 is that the pinpointing is easier with some other machines I use. Pinpointing with the 250 isn't horrible, just a little slower for me, especially on the deeper stuff or in heavy flak. Good machine though!
