At first, I really struggled with the Pistol Probe and the E-Trac. Both are really sensitive devices. What I do now is to tune the Pistol Probe every time I start a new hunt, (after I Noise Cancel the E-trac). What I have noticed is that the E-Trac puts off different frequencys depending on which channel is selected by the Noise Cancel function. For instance, if the E-Trac chooses Channel 9 during the noise cancel, I tune the Pistol Probe so it doesn't interfere and start hunting. If I Noise Cancel again and the E-Trac chooses Channel 6, I pretty much have to re-tune the Pistol Probe. I also have got in the habit of placing the E-Trac behind me while using the Pistol Probe ( it helps a lot to have some distance between the two devices). I have also noticed that I seem to get less interference with the small coils.
I believe that if there was a wider range of adjustment on the Pistol Probe, you could mark the dial for each channel on the E-Trac but the frequencys are so close together on the Pistol Probe adjustment dial that this is not feasable. I do like the Pistol Probe, it will detect a coin sized object very well through quite a bit of dirt.
