Limestone rock parking area 2 hours again

INCH

New member
Was the best time i ve had picking up coins. The parking area is about the size of a football field and I covered half today. You cant dig down over an inch because of the compacted base, but i didnt dig at all , everything surface targets (feels like cheating, but I'll take it) About 72 pennys, 14 dimes , 2 quarters and a host of other stuff in two hours . I know there aint no skill involved here, but , I was wondering if any of you guys ever hunted gravel parking areas, or something similar where there is a good amount of traffic from parking? Thanks for looking and being sidetracked from from Mr All Terrain.

Yes, I have worked some of those lots and boy you know it's tough. We was about two months into our drought this summer and I was working one and was going to give up on a strong signal using both hands to chop at that gravel and sand mix when at about 4" a 1934 quarter pops out the side of the hole to say, hay how you doing. It can pay off cause some machine swingers will not work in an area that should be dug with a jack hammer. Dig'em All

Think about how long that lot has been there. You know that if it has been there for many years you should be able to get some silver. You will have to work hard at the digging but it should been there.

Well, I aint takin no pick axe for these targets. This lot has only been resurfaced with the limestone about 3 years. But talk about fun for someone who is just getting their feet wet with detecting, I loved it , over 2 hundred signals in 2 hours mostly pennys, but it made my day. But it did make me think about people that live where the ground freezes, and somewhere to detect where there is loose rock for driveways . theres gotta be a lot of success stories out there even if its only clad.

Just trying to help. Good finds and good luck in the future. I have and will pick off the top too. If it's lost and I find it it's mine. Get a Garrett! Made in The Good Ol USA!

There is a place like that near me, and I have been eyeballing it for weeks.
Thanks for settling the issue for me.

Reports to come.
