LiIon Battery Tip

I wanted to pass this along to those of you who are tied to AA rechargeable batteries. I found a thread on the other forum about a new power pack which, unlike most, is small, compact, and affordable $39.95 @ Best Buy (#DPS9000). Just ask the sales person for the DPS9000 as they know exactly where they are (not with the other battery displays).
Just one word of caution....Make sure you purchase the style that comes withmultiple patch cords. The bottom line of the case will read: Compatible with most digital cameras & video camcorders. The reason I say this is there is a DPS9000 which has only one cord and the kit is for SONY products.
This small pack screws into the tripod thread of your camera and still allows the use of same. I have seen the claims of 200-300 images while using built-in flash, reviewing images, etc. Seems no one has hit the wall with this unit and they say you may get as many as 400 images. If you use a flash attachment with it's own battery set, then you don't depleat the main batteries.
I use the POWERBank as my battery source when I need staying power or will be doing a lot of work. Yes it is an external pack with a coiled cord that tethers it to the camera. However, I have NEVER had the back fail and I have been using it for 1.5 yrs.
1400mAh Li-Ion @ 7.2V w/4-stage indicator and charges @ 500mA in 3 hrs to full charge. Charger output is 9V 500mA.

When I do limited shooting, I rely on 3 new sets of Powerex NiMH 1800mAh batteries. I also purchased the MH-C401FS 'Cool Charger' that charges in 5-hrs; batteries come out warm, not hot. It is reported that this extends life. The charger also has a 1-hr fast charge setting.
I purchased from Thomas: http://www.thomas-distributing.com
Hope this helps.
