Last December we had a real warm spell. Too bad I wasn't detecting seriously back then, but I did get into the habit of walking to do my various errands around town rather than driving. One day I picked up few coins on the sidewalk and when I got home I threw them in a Silver Dollar coin tube. I decided to see just how much I could find in one year. This is all found money, that is, found on the ground, or floor, or in the dryer at the laundromat you get the rules, right? I also put bills I found as well as jewelry and other cool things. When I discovered that the Coinstar machine sometimes had leftovers I included that in my hunting grounds and got the 6 small dollar coins. The final container was a quart jar almost full of stuff. Interesting finds were 9 wheat pennies, a silver dime, a junk ring, the dollar coins, 2 junk earrings, 1 eyebrow ring, 2 of those smashed penny souvenirs (one from Coinstar machine), 22 cal shell on sidewalk on Main St., and 4 marbles. Total haul for the year was $57.32. Some of the bills were found while metal detecting.

While going to take the photo of that PR flag deal I found 3 pennies and a dime and put them in my 2008 found money jar. In 364 days I'll post the results.

Man do I need to get out and get detecting. Wonder how far south I'd need to drive tomorrow?

Hey, that's a good idea. I found a penny just yesterday. I found ten then a 20 at a casino earlier this year. The wife found a $100 in a parking lot last week. If I had a jar, I don't think she would give up the hundy.

Here is my best found money story. I was walking for exercise a lot about 3 years ago and had this route I always took. The last leg was through this property where they have horse shows. (Never metal detected but I'm working on permission for the Spring.) My walk took me through a gate that said ID required to enter but I had never been asked to show ID in at least 100 times through. This particular day the security guy was having a bad day or somebody pissed in his Cheerios and he asked me for ID. I reached around for my wallet and found none. I explained the situation and he told me to turn around and go to a gate that did not require ID to enter. Honest Injun I could have walked down the road 250 yards and entered and walked right past him. I smiled, told him he was an idiot, and headed for home via an alternate route. On the way home I saw a $20 bill folded in 4 in a ditch (pretty deep ditch too) so I climbed in after it. The wad contained 5 $20 bills and 2 $50 bills and I was leaving for a race in Talladega in less than a week. I bought our race party a pretty nice dinner on that 200 bucks which I never would have found if that security guard hadn't turned me around. BTW the guard also works security at a local park and has stopped me at least 5 times and told me I couldn't MD there and every time I have to explain who I am, how I have permission etc...... Ex cop. Now a Security Guard. Nuff said.

For a minute there Chris, I thought you were going to light a flag.:csflag::lol:
Not a bad effort for no metal detector.
Mick Evans.
