liberty quarter question

Was in my backyard and landed a liberty quarter...I wish I had a photo to put on here....It looks like a lady carrying a bag of some sort. There is no date though on it ? I looked through my step sons coin book and I didnt see any liberty quarters with no dates under the lady on the front of the coin...it looks like its about 1917 Im thinking. Its in pretty good shape. Are these quarters hard to find ? I never sell what I find....but Im curious if its worth anything. I did it Dave !!! My first liberty quarter !

your liberty quarter is known to wear very easily due to it's shallow print. The coin has 90 persent silver and thats probably the tolale worth.

What is the mintmark by HER right foot next to the star (if there is one), and can you see her toes or see the stars on the shield For GRADING. PS....:) Can go for $40+ to $160. Buy A BOOK.

That's awesome...congrats !!!

If it's a 1917 there will be no stars under the eagle on the reverse of the coin. I found this one last year..1917-D

Welcome to the club !!!

Tough to find a liberty quarter with a date..Has something to do with the mettalic content and the depth of the printing. I just like to find coins and my knowledge is limited but just talk to a coin collector or dealer which you find at most flea markets and he will give you a knowlegable explanation..Don't know how or why but just to seem to show up at certain areas where I have found several and in other areas not one to be found..Nice find my friend and hope its the first of many silver as getting harder every year to scare up silver coins...

There is a Variety 2 type 1917 SLQ with the 3 stars under the eagle. The Variety 1 type which I have is also referred to as the bare-breasted variety.

[size=large]if you do spring for a book i suggest you make it the RED BOOK. the blue seems to have a little less info in it. jmo

Here's a question. Does the 2012 Red Book reflect the current silver prices? Wondering if they were printed before it jumped to $40 an ounce.
