Levels of Disc on Omega's

Alcymart

New member
I saw the info about the Omega 6000 having 80 levels of discrimination and the 8000 having 65. What are those levels of discrimination its referring to? I see 8 levels from Iron to Qtr.

The Omega is the 8000 and the Gamma is the 6000. The 6000's discrimination is controlled by a push button in one number steps from 1 to 80. The Omega is controlled by a rotary control and also indexes in whole number increments from 1 to 80. This range is through zinc category targets. Where did you see the reference around 65 steps of discrimination?

I saw the 65 in the catalogue sticky link above in the comparison chart. Can either disc in or out one of the 80 disc levels individually? Something just doesn't add up. A dealer told me we can only disc one of the 8 categories!

On both the Gamma and Omega you can notch any combination of the lower 6 target segments (out of the 8 total) which coincidently is that 1 to 80 range. So it's notching in or out for entire segments and discrimination for ascending rejection in one number increments. On the Teks you can use the notch and disc in conjunction but it doesn't allow you total control over each individual number. Keep in mind on the XT, you're actually controlling several numbers at a time (how many numbers comprises a segment depends on the model) as their "segments" aren't single number resolution. Both systems have pluses and minuses. Personally, I prefer the higher resolution ID system of the Omega and consider control to be secondary.
