You might find this interesting. I tried to send a link but it would not go through.
Apparently a fello detectionist in Germany found munitions buried from WW II with
a cheapo Chinese metal detector.
See photos (Hopefully THESE will go through.
Regards
Robet Roy

Darn! That metal detector must have a grenades and guns setting.

Thanks for the pictures!

These pics are all fake. The pictures are from a ebay auction from a guy who wants to sell those toy detectors.

Hummmm. Yea...thats always a possibility!
Guess we all have to be a little skeptical no matter WHAT gets posted.

As on any forum, there are always great finds. I think of it as a deer hunter finding a big buck. It is how good the hunter is, plus his weapon and luck. The hunter wants the best weapon, but if he is really good he can use anything. Sometimes it makes it more challenging for the hunter.
Most of us on these forums are good at what we do with our detectors. I am glad none of you are in my neighborhood.

Here's a copy of a post that I had from a guy in Germany about metal detecting. Looks like there is not much detecting allowed. Rob

Hi Rob,
I'm sorry to say that, but in Germany theoretically nowhere
Very few have permission to search /dig.
I am member of 2 Sondlers Webpages here,it took me some time to understand what they really meant by metal detecting here. The conclusion is
that the most of them go out without any permit. So they risk heavy penaltyies and problems with the police!
Most of the findings illegally found are then in internet legally purchased
This is the way I adquired many relics for my collection

Yea. I hear that its probably a fake anyway. You just never know these days what to make of these things that get posted. I guess we have to always take along a big supply of skepticism when we go to the internet.:detecting:
