This guy was in the right place at the right time!

Fifty rings and only four of them turned out to be gold... he must have been frustrated during those four days.:nopity::biggrin:

The only reason I bought my detectors several months ago - hope and plans to travel abroad several times a year. In this country everything is off limit for people, monstrousely over-regulated, bureaucratized and has competition of tens of thousands of detectorists who collect on average $1 per hour in limited allowed spots but still keep hunting and buying more and more machines.

The guy had fun for sure. Had courage to go from USA to an Arabic country. I go often to Hurgada and Sharm el Sheih (Egypt). People there say that no more americans come in six-seven years already. Europeans, Germans, Russians. But no americans. For some good reason probably

From his last name - Novachek - the guy is Chech or Slovak. Eastern Europe. Not American neither..

Guy was probably running some Discrimination. Had he run on 1, then the gold count may have been greater. No telling what he missed out there!

My GF wants us to go to OAE next spring. I will doublecheck after him with my Dual Field and her Headhunter Pulse.:twodetecting:

I've been there twice, in the late 80's...during the Iran-Iraq war, and up to and including Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Unfortunately, I was not destined to handle a metal detector until about the year 2000.

How I wish I had been into this when I was all over Europe, the Persian Gulf, all the Carribean islands, the West Indies, the French Riviera...the list goes on and on. :(
