lets take a vote on iron disc

do you shut it off or do you like to listen to it as you swing?

I like to hear all the grunts as I swing, it's like a thresh, when you are in iron infestation, and hear the pops and tones, gives you info to dig or not

one sound I can't figure out is a high pop sound, and 88VDI # is on the screen and it's a weak signal, dig or not, and it does not pinpoint, thanks

I hunt in zero disc and the places I hunt are loaded with modern trash(tabs, caps, beaver tails, etc.) so my ears get a real work out. I like to hunt with the iron audio off and check the good sounding signals with a push of the button. I love it when I hear a grunt and good signal together when checking. R.L.

my experience wih the AT Pro is to leave all DISC off (Iron too) and go by tone only. The audio is not choppy and definitely less fatiguing imo.

I look forward to and dig most every deep sound even if it doesnt ID or pinpoint. I rarely use the PP button anyways, I simply X the target and dig. What you can try on the deep targets is to remove a shovel full of dirt and recheck the area.

I was in a realllll iron pit of a site today and found a spot that gave off a high blip every once in a while and from all directions. The ID said 37 but the high tone was consistent enough. I dug and out came a 1934 wheat and then a large square washer from below the coin. IF I had gone by meter alone, The coin would still be there.

Main thing is to have fun and use whatever you have confidence in

I hunt in pro mode with an iron disc of 35 with iron audio off 90% of the time but I use the iron audio to check questionable targets..

I think somedays U like to hear the grunts and somedays not(Iron audio on or off) . The iron audio will beat my ears off my head at most of the sites i hunt even at 40 discrimination. It may B good for some to hear all the grunts in Iron infested sites, but for some other folks they would probly not want to here all that grunting. I love to check a target with the Iron audio button , but I aint gonna hunt with it on . Its a nice feature on the machine, but I aint costantly with it....................

I think it's site dependent. It's nice that Garrett gave us the choice to set the iron disc/tone break where we want, and the iron audio feature to check those iffy targets to give more intel for that dig/no dig decision

I have taken to hunting in all metal either with my AT pro or any of my other detectors. I like to hear what is there...and with iron audio on.

I had last weekend some bigger iron targets give a solid 80 reading with no iron sound even when I checked it with the iron audio. Some was deep and others right under the top of the soil.

I like custom 35 or coin and sometimes run with it on but so far
off most of the time except to check items.

never any higher....listen for the faint mid to high tones in all the grunt's...they wont be there with the audio off...I have tried both way's....and if you have a site not producing turn it on and listen real hard...

OFF .. On for testing of a repeatable good tone only .. Peace and Quiet are so refreshing .. IMO

on the AT when in iron...if it has the high tone it's usually a keeper...I dig quite a few target's that turn out good that are reading 36-37 but the tone is sweet...

I am glad you are learning the AT Tony it is a real eye opener once you get in the groove with it..

people who are quick to dismiss it without taking time to understand the unique audio are making a mistake I do believe...

it takes a good moth to really get tuned in the Audio un-masking abilities and to get comfortable with it...

I am still experimenting with different o.h.m. headphone speaker's ...I am getting them dialed in...I must of had my headphone's apart 6 time's soldering in new speaker's;)

if people think because it's a Garrett and it cant produce oh how wrong they are!!!

Yesterday I found a 1949D dime in a park I've only found clad before in pro with iron on, didn't find much else there
