Hi Scully,
In the post below there is some uncertainy about the ground balance and the effect it has on the disc mode on the Vaquero. Could you please clarify this for us? I am almost 100% sure that to achieve maximum depth in discrimination the GB needs to be set properly for the soil conditions.
Thanks, Jerry

A properly balanced machine will have it tuned and operating to achieve is absolute best performance. Factory pre-set GB machines, like the Cibola, are set at a GB level that is "average" for most locations. If you have slightly funky ground, mineralized, etc., it MAY or may not be set to the OPTIMUM. It will still work fine and the difference might be negligible, but with a manually balanced machine you can rest assured that your machine is always running at maximum. How much of a difference? Hard to say, in most cases it may be very minute, but do you want to gamble with the depth of your machine? Did you miss that seated dime by a half inch?

If you live in a part of the country where the soil is fairly neutral, and you never travel or detect away from that area, the Cibola would probably work as good as the Vaquero. But if you travel around, use your machine in various conditions at numerous locations, I would buy a manual GB machine, just to be sure Im always firing on all cylinders. I want to be sure my gear is always opperating at peak.
