When i first started out it took me forever to choose what good mid to top of the line detector to buy, lots of thinking, researching and wondering, even after i got it while hunting, with lots of frustration and doubting myself, lots of feeling like i needed to find every single coin there is at a place, it was tough, i didnt find that much, always wondering if i was leaving good finds behind. I have found that spending more time hunting and less time wondering what your missing has helped me out a lot, learining the machine slowly and slowly beginning to get into the more advanced settings and digging more iffy signals. I now dont even think about my explorer missing stuff, i know i do but i tend to care more about hunting and finding what i can, after several years on the explorer i will start going back and hunting harder looking for more old coins that are hiding in the trash or next to iron. I think its smart to get used to the detector before going after hard to find targets like that. Sure the thought of owning a ctx someday would be cool but for 2400 dollars i think i will just keep plugging away with the explorer. I finally made it out this morning after a bad drought we got almost 4 inches of rain since friday, the ground is now easy to dig, i hunted for about 90 minutes at an old school house spot i had never tried, pulled a 1917 s merc, 1888 v nickle and 5 wheaties, a state of kansas kids ring and some kind of lockett with a small stone in it. Nothing awesome but its nice to get back out, getting ready to head out to another one room school house spot that i have never hunted, i will post again tonight if i find anything good, Happy hunting; Sam
