We still own and use some of the finest Detectors in the "WORLD" yep..the "WORLD"........:heh:

Our Explorers, Se's, and SE Pro's still find the coins with the best of them... So come on don't be intimidated with a new relese machine..

Let's see some of those great EXPLORER finds posted here....:bouncy:

Its raining right now for the first time in months, i will actually be able to dig again, we have got 2 inches so far and its suppose to rain all day and night, starting tomorrow afternoon i will get to go back to detecting and i dont find anything to special but i will make a few posts, i enjoy seeing others posts and i actually wish everyone would post everyday of what they find. I get bored

Elton..... we are going to hand out pom poms for you lol. Im perfectly content with my SE..... i find it odd that these high speed detectors are so good that they still have to show that by comparing them to the Explorers. I think that says a lot.

I just noticed the forum slowed down. I think it's because people are thinking the Se's etc..aren't any longer top dog machines..and I believe, like you do. They are..
............. Sometimes State of Mind prevents people for findiing things. A mind set of your not using the best, makes you not do your best when detecting.

My enthusiasm for the Explorer continues to grow . No doubt the CTX's and the E-tracs are great detectors but I don't feel they have anything I really need to make my personal style of detecting anymore enjoyable .The Explorer has become very comfortable to me like a good pair of old shoes .

I have not hunted since June and I think a lot of people are in the same situation - too hot and dry. Also vacations happen this time of year.

Lot of factors for not posting..... bad time to dig, not having what one might feel are good finds, lazy (like me), and some people just dont want to see your pictures. Personally i dont mind looking a realistic hunts..... always seeing the MIND BLOWING finds just arent always the case.

Yep, I agree...All the forums for all the machines across the entire web are real slow right now. Too hot and too dry. Always happens when it's like that. You'll see the forums pick back up as we head into fall with nicer weather.

About the only guys doing any real hunting right now are the water hunters. Sure, some die hards are digging on land in the heat and dry soil but many of us, even if we find a place to hunt in the shade, don't want to be messing the ground up when it's powdery dry like it is. Even the best of efforts to repair a plug in some soils when it's this dry is not up to snuff.

I for one don't want to risk blowing my spots because I can't wait for wetter soil. Sure, I've got some sites that are more remote/far less pristine that I'll dig in this dry, but it still takes a lot of effort to get the plug hid again so I can move on.

Last few days I've been water hunting at sunrise with a few friends and that's given me my detecting fix.

When i first started out it took me forever to choose what good mid to top of the line detector to buy, lots of thinking, researching and wondering, even after i got it while hunting, with lots of frustration and doubting myself, lots of feeling like i needed to find every single coin there is at a place, it was tough, i didnt find that much, always wondering if i was leaving good finds behind. I have found that spending more time hunting and less time wondering what your missing has helped me out a lot, learining the machine slowly and slowly beginning to get into the more advanced settings and digging more iffy signals. I now dont even think about my explorer missing stuff, i know i do but i tend to care more about hunting and finding what i can, after several years on the explorer i will start going back and hunting harder looking for more old coins that are hiding in the trash or next to iron. I think its smart to get used to the detector before going after hard to find targets like that. Sure the thought of owning a ctx someday would be cool but for 2400 dollars i think i will just keep plugging away with the explorer. I finally made it out this morning after a bad drought we got almost 4 inches of rain since friday, the ground is now easy to dig, i hunted for about 90 minutes at an old school house spot i had never tried, pulled a 1917 s merc, 1888 v nickle and 5 wheaties, a state of kansas kids ring and some kind of lockett with a small stone in it. Nothing awesome but its nice to get back out, getting ready to head out to another one room school house spot that i have never hunted, i will post again tonight if i find anything good, Happy hunting; Sam

I hope he posts it soon. I know he has been comparing for many weeks now with 3 of us using our ctx's vs his SE. PS: The 3 of us lost...lol.
Elton bryce speaks highly of you bud and I know he has his reasons for not posting it yet.
I also know he plans on posting it soon as I spoke with yesterday...and we hunted a few hours today.
Ill say this...none of our ctx's made more a peep over that 1895 barber dime he dug last month with his SE and it was over 9" deep tipped on edge.

who I value as a friend..

Rain has now stopped after about three months and the tourists are going home, so I should be able to get out a bit more.
Have new land to detect on right across the road from our house, found loads of copper and brass items including Victorian pennies and half pennies.
as I am sitting here I can hear the farmer ploughing the same field so I shall have a look when he has finished.
Don't know about anyone else but if I kept buying the newest detector I would have to go back to work to pay for it instead of getting out more.

Most of us were praying for rain...now we need a boat to get to the backyard...lol.
As for machines...I'll stick with my Explorer!!
