Saw this guy sitting on top of the frame for the chair swing in my backyard so I went and grabbed my Fuji FinePix A303 digicam and snapped him. He's less than an inch long...little baby.

I really like what you guys like Royal are doing with your bug photos....
Keep them coming

Well thanks. I've enjoyed looking at the bug photos too. So when I saw the Mantis this morning, I thought "Man, that would be nice to get an extreme close-up of him". I wanted to get even closer, but as you can see he was very aware of me and kept moving so I took the best shot I could get.
I should use Photoshop and blow him up and superimpose a picture of the Empire State Building in there with him or something, huh?

She is Cristal sharp! I am sure you could have gone in pretty close with photoshop.
I shot this little guy a week or so ago. He was tucked back in the leaves and was hard to get a good shot. I like the effect though It was not all skill Hahahahah
I like your much better but am still watching

Hey thanks Royal, but your picture isn't too shabby either.
Fuuny story. A couple of hours after I took that picture today, I went out there again and he was still there...though in a different spot. I ran to get the camera, think maybe I could get an even better shot. My wife was in the chair swing watching me get all up close in his face, trying to "catch my moment". I noticed that the little guy was eyeballing me, following the gaze of my lens wherever I moved. And he had taken a sort of aggressive posture as well. He was doing some of that kung fu stuff, rising up on his hind legs and leaning forward like he was going to get me or something and I told the wife "Look at this guy...he thinks he's pretty bad for a little inch long dude."
Well, he was on the edge of the beam and I had the camera like 3 inches from his face, right? And here I am, framing him, and all of a sudden he's not there. I took my eye away from the camera to see where he went and he was on my hand! Little bugger had jumped off onto me! Kind of shocked me a little and I instictively snapped my hand and flung him off. My wife was laughing her butt off. "That little inch long guy just showed you, didn't he?"
After that I couldn't find him again. He's probably going to sneak in the house and try to get me tonight!
