Well guess I need not say much more than that eh?
I applied for a - full time - temporary - factory machine maintenance position with a temporary services company. The temp company gave me all the forms to fill out, gave me a skill test, had me watch a safety movie and take a test and finally got to the interview stage. Appears I was impressive to the interviewer. She did ask if I would be willing to work sunday afternoon and evening doing floors maintenance work with some other company. Didn't want to but hey income is income so I said sure. Probably a good thing because the interviewer confided that she gives a job offer like that to see how the new employee will act to the offer plus it gives her a day of 'working' elsewhere before sending someone to the first place they had applied for.
So Sunday I will be doing floor work - should be a piece of cake. The interviewer still has to set up an interview between me and her client at the factory - maybe Monday afternoon (so I can get a little rest before going to the interview after working a good part of the night). If that interview turns out ok then will have to buy myself a pair of steel toed boots for the job. If the interview at the factory doesn't go well then the temp company will try to find me another posiiton elsewhere or use me in a pool when they need someone with my talents and skills.
Guess that means I am a working stiff once again though not even close to what I was making before. The floor work Sunday will be $8.00 an hour which is a $1.75 more than what the factory work will be paying (plus I have to travel about 15 miles one way to get to the factory each day). Considering I will be moving (hopefully) between now and fall I'm not looking for 'the perfect career' position at this time. Getting the factory job though would give me some experience and references to apply for a similar job up north when we get moved. If not then hey I made a few bucks, helped pay for some bills, helped get moved and made me a little 'rounder' than I was before. And I though I was so well rounded with 3 holes in my head I'd look like a bowling ball.
Thank you everyone for your prayers on getting the work. Thank you Father for giving me this position - in the name of Jesus and praise and glory to you.
