FEATURES of the 399 $ Whites Prizm IV compared to the 199 $ Garrett Ace 250
Prizm:
Smart Notch. You choose ... detect or ignore them. Just push a pad and nails, foil, and tabs are in or out. The "Smart" system notches each zone based on your discrimination setting. You'll wonder how you ever did without Smart Notch!
5-Range Discrimination adjusts so you pick what you want to see and hear. Hear and see it all, or just the good stuff.
Accept or reject 12 Notch Segments on the Garrett
Prizm
Tone I.D. 3 distinctly different audio tones instantly cue you to the target's desirability. LOW signals nails and iron. MEDIUM is rings and jewelry. HIGH indicates coins.
Same as Ace 250
Depth Reading as you hunt. Once you've detected a good target, the screen shows you how deep to dig. No extra steps, it's automatically on the screen! Target I.D. Display shows I.D. of target as you hunt. Hear and see targets!
Same as Ace 250
Adjustable Sensitivity maximizes detection depth in varying grounds.
Same as Ace 250
Prizm:
PinPoint/All-Metal Mode makes locating your target a snap. Just push the pad!
Ace 250 has Pinpoint mode but no true All-Metal Mode. The Garrett has an Zero Disc All Metal mode.
Prizm: 8-inch waterproof search coil.
Garrett
6.5 x 9" PROformance open center coil. That coil is better for wading because it has no air trapped in the coil like the Prizm coil. It is better for pinpointng because is has an open center.
Prizm: Rugged, water resistant control box. Just 2.5 pounds, too.
I don't know if the control box is water resistant , weight of the Garrett is 2.7 lbs
Prizm: Instruction Video included.
No on the Garrett ...but do you really need one for that easy to use detector ?
Prizm: Powered by 2 9-volt batteries
The Ace is powered by 4 AA Batteries. That is better because you can buy a charger with 4 AAs at walmart for 10$ (It's a 7 hour charger). Or buy an one hour charger for 24 $.
That makes detecting costs close to 0. No need to spend money on batteries.
There is no one hour charger for the 2 9 Volt batteries of the Prizm.
Arm rest on Prizm not padded.
The arm rest on the Garrett is padded.
2 piece stem on Prizm
3 piece stem on Garrett
No selectable Modes on the Prizm
5 modes on the Garrett incl. one custom mode. The custom mode stores the changes you made.
Depth on the targets in my test garden goes to the Ace 250.It's about 2" deeper than my Prizm.
Garrett has signal strength meter for pinpointing; Prizm hasn't
And one more thing:
You can mail order the 250 from any garrett dealer.
The whites dealer can just sell 10 % of there sales by mail order.
I can't believe i compared a 199 $ detector to a 399 $ detector and the cheaper detector comes out ahead.
Well done Garrett !

How about the Prizm V? You get all that in a IV but with multI tones. At the shop I think the IV gets better depth then the V.Anyhow the 250 come real close to the depth of the Prizms and compare to Bounty hunters there is nothing to match either! Can't wait to see whats nexted,Joe
