Let me clarify something about my first 705 post

I am not saying the 705 is no good. Far from it.
I am not a button pushing knob turning techie. I still enjoy this hobby as I did when I first started. I want a machine that I can setup one day and turn on and go hunting the next day. Noise, GB, and sens. are quick to adjust on the X-Terra 70. You can most times, hunt all day with only hitting the tracking once in a while. Quiet and stable machines, the X-Terras.
Now comes the new and improved what? They advertised enhanced depth. Our own Andy S. just a day or so ago said there is no improvement on depth. OK, NO BIGGY How about Faster, as advertised? Nope, they didn't speed up the processor. The target is still way back there Know what I mean?
The 705 will take the place of the 70. There will be guys like me and guys like the pros. And they'll smooth out the wrinkles and the 705 will be the great little machine the 70 is now.
Don't be afraid to buy one, if it's your first X-Terra. but if you already own the 70. I'd call it good.
I'm no engineer, just a regular guy out hunting for old goodies. So what do I know.
This is just one mans opinion after a long day in the field.

I hear what you are saying. If you are just coming into the X-Terra machines I would by all means get the 705. But, for us with the X-70 we'll probably stick with it. Just my hunch but, I don't think the new machine was really aimed at present X-70 users. We already know the power of the X factor.

of the full capabilities of the machine.the DD coils really bring the terras into there own.I use a 6 DD HF and It is one amazing machine with this coil. the 10.5 DD 7.5khz coil is great at deep digging.either one of these coil's can be run wide open no falsing.

Is the 6 inch DD as fast as a t-2 at recovery speed and target response zip zip sound no way but terra sees deeper in the ground with the slower recovery. The longer a detector looks at a target the deeper it goes.My xterra blows my MXT away in depth but not coil size for coil size.and sees everything the mxt sees in iron just have to sweep it slower.

Also the ground tracking on the terra is slower on start up than say am mxt but once it gets set it tracks way better than a mxt even when the mxt is using a DD . I love the mxt but thats the fact in my ground.

is there any improvement over the 70 when using a 705? not really but hey the kept the price the same and did give a backlight as a selling feature when going head to head against other I'd machines. So its not that you need to rush out and buy a 705 . but it nice to know they are tweaking without adding cost so they can compete against other machines.teh ground balance offset seems more beneficial in the prospecting mode. wher every little nuance of sound is required.

The Xterra 705 will be a great prospecting detector. No other multi purpose will compete with the 70-705 in gold prospecting.Ive heard that you need a multi thousand dollar detector to see any big performance gains in the prospecting fields . thats awesome.

Im quite pleased with the 70 and 705 and will keep the 705 as my main serious detector. It can truly be the only detector a man needs with the right coils.

I've just now taken the time to work with the 3 kHz and am finding it very proficient.
BTW The 705 falses easier.

Off of iron targets or electrical interference ? I havent noticed this with mine . I have 2, 705's right now and they both are smooth and stable. Heck They seem to run better in iron than my 70. I think from machine to machine you can see some differences. A buddy of mine had a 70 about a year ago and it falsed every swing mine was always butter smoothed . the 705's I have right now seem to have smoother threshold over my 70.But I did have another 70 that had a super smooth threshold in all metal mode so I belive Iwould check another 705 and see if it dose'nt run smooth.

I have found you have to try 3-4 detectors in the same model to get one you truly like and appreciate.

The falsing was in corn field with iron and slaw. But I'm used to that with the 70.
Could be the machine. It is possible.
