Why do so many folks use Different Detectors some seem to have 3 plus I understand the need for a land and one for the Beach and I know one Machine wont do everything i use the Mxt pro and never really feel I'm missing anything if I do it's from just not Digging the lower iffy signals. I was thinking about getting a extra Detector but don't see the need. I must say I have only used White's. I live in North Carolina ( the sand hills) and for the must part it is sandy soil most places I go I hit dimes at 10 to 12 inch's using the 12"coil.

I only have one detector. :sadwalk: Can I tell you how much I like my MXT? :detecting: HH, Nancy

Thanks Nancy you for sure are a mxt'er you also must feel you would not Benefit from another Machine. if I got a 3 KHZ detector would I get dime's 2' I don't think so?

Options! That's my best answer. It's just like cars. There are so many makes and models that you don't know which to pick. If you own one and like it, maybe the other one is a bit better.

If there were only one metal detector manufacturer then that would be easy. It all boils down do "choices" and possibly who has the most toys.

I know there are some people on the forums that are so passionate about their machines you might think that 'they' own the company. I guess it all boils down to competition as well. We each go hunting for our own pleasure, but if someone finds a nice item, someone else has to find a better one.

I've got to admit that I've had at least one detector from each manufacturer except one and I won't mention it here, but you know which I'm talking about. It's from south of the equator.

I gave myself a Christmas gift of a new MXT. I'm really looking forward to using it, but the ground here is frozen and we're expecting a snow storm tomorrow. So for now I'm happy learning about my machine and watching videos about it. Before I know it Spring will be here and I can finally get out and detect again.

I've heard so much about the MXT and what it can find that I'm not even going to look for new places to hunt. I'm going back over all the places that I've been to, hopefully to find what I've missed with my other detectors.

The selection of detectors has more to do with functionality than just pure depth. Most of the better detectors will all come close to the same depth. Some might do slightly better in the silver and copper targets and at the same time will lack in the lower end of the conductivity range. The opposite is also true, a gold detector is a good example, very sensitive to small gold but not very good with the silver and copper (higher conductors). Most of the detectors on the market are what is considered general purpose and does very good across the board. Other factors involved in detector choice is price, weight, balance, coil selection, service, audio quality, features and sometimes what your friends use or where you hunt and what you are hunting for.

Picking out the right detector for you is much like picking out which vehicle to drive. Car, Truck, SUV, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, GPS, big engine or economy............. you get the idea. Picking out the right detector for you is a personal choice and sometimes you just have to "test drive" the ones that you are interested in and see which one fits your hand and ear best.

I have three detectors myself and no real special reason for having that many . Started with a cheaper detector then got a good buy on my MXT so bought it and never got rid of my cheaper one . Then decided I liked the muti tones better than just one or two so bought a M6 used and I love the tones on it but when I bought it I kept the two detectors I already had . For some of us we just like big boy toys and keep several of them around and its always nice to have a extra if you have to send one in for repairs or tune up . I do switch detectors for certain spots use my cheap Ace in the tot lots and my M-6 in the parks and ball fields , but use the MXT for most other places so do use all three in there respective spots when I need too . Some people just like collecting metal detectors like a collection . I feel each person has there own reasons for how many detectors they own or use , mine is more just the fun and not getting rid of the things I already have when I buy something new .

Thanks Larry no I'm not talking about only depth that would make picking a detector selection a little easier. I'm saying Machines of about the same KHZ I have a Friend how has a Fisher F75 LTD Great Detector but also so like my MXT in so many ways. I was hoping folk's with many Detectors( I think alot don't just buy them to try but for keeps) why they would want Machines of the same Range. I Thinking about getting a E-TERRA 705 so I can use Different KHZ coils.

Because of the area I hunt in, I have an MXT Pro and its versatility eliminated my need for another . . . JMHO. I bought the Coinmaster Pro as a "back-up" / loaner / spare for others to use if they came along with me and so that my young boys could toy around with it also. CCH

NANCY, now that aint fair, now I know why you get more coins from the ground than Larry !!!!!!!!! You pinpoint and yell at 4 paws. uh fore paws well anyway, you point andsay DIG and the dirt goes flyin---------oh them poor puppies_ _ _ _ :rofl::rofl: Right Larry???????? KC HH:cheekkiss:

Kay C, Little Maggie hasn't had the pleasure of going metal detecting with us yet. I'm sure General will show her the ropes when we go. :) You take care, Nancy

I upgraded from XL PRO to the MXT. After using the MXT for a while I knew I wouldn't want to use any other machine, so I gave my XL PRO to my Nephew. Now I only have the MXT and I'm happy with that. HH John

i have an etrac, mxt and a viper underwater detector. I use my MXT at totlots. I use the etrac in parks and trashy areas for the programming. I love the ease of use of the MXT but also love the programming and iron masking of the etrac. Haven't see depth but the NC clay does not allow coins to sink very far.
