Lessons learned in life -

Dogface got me thinking -

When I was an early teen my dad got me a 410 shotgun, the smallest gauge shotgun made. He had a big time Browning semi-auto 12 gauge one. Well we were going along hunting and he was getting about 6 birds to my 1 and I said "that's because you have that big time gun". He said let's trade. We did and he continued to knock down the same ratio :(

This lesson holds true for 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive in a truck most times. A good driver can do wonders with 2 wheel in rough country. A lesser driver will tear up a 4 wheel drive.
For that matter - a good hunter behind a low end detector can find more than a poor hunter with a top o the line detector.
