lesson learned yesterday

I'm met (NeilINoIN) up in SouthBend yesterday. I had a hellofa good time and he is a great guy. I can't begin to tell you everything I learned, but I can tell you I was getting lucky finding what I did using the the disc prog I had set up. I dought I ever use disc again. He taught me how to use iron mask effectively and let me try an 8 in coil which I'm buying off him. Some of the learning process was just the conversations we had and his knowledge of the machine. We started at 9 am and finally called it a day at 4:30. I myself found only trash and 33 cents, now Neal found a barber dime a few wheat's and an IH. I really want to thank him for taking the time to spend with me and I hope I made a new friend. Oh no wonder I can find much in some of the parks around my area because I found out he's already been to them and pounded the crap out of em. Once I get that coil I going to some of these areas and I'm going to prove he didn't find everything(lol). If I do have anymore good finds I owe It to Neil and his unselfishness and willingness to show me what he learned from being behind the XS over the years. One more thing I got home could hardly walk because of the back problems I going through , went out in my yard and pulled a '42 s merc and it wasn't deep. Why had I not found it before, trash, trash, trash but running in iron mask and watching the cursor on the screen told me to dig.

Great story. There are a bunch of great guys on this forum. I have had the pleasure of hunting with quite a few of them and have learned so much.

I cherish the friendships I have made here more than the finds I've made with them.

Nothing like having someone show you the ropes! I hope you listened to some of his iffy targets. Things really took off for me after a good guy named Bing let me listen to some of his iffy deep targets. Getting the 8" coil was a good move too. Once you've learn the language the oldies will start popping out all over the place. :detecting:
