Has anyone here bought and used a Lesche Sampson w/ serrated edge? I'm shopping for a small inconspicuous digger. I like the new Lesche Raven but it is 40" overall compared to the Sampson which is only 31". Any input is appreciated..
Lesche makes a fine digger and would check their lineup for what your looking for as they carry a variety..Sampson moves a lot of dirt and perhaps your unit for an out of the way area such as the woods or a farmers field or perhaps a beach but take one to a backyard or public park and you will get run out quickly. Guess thats why they make so many varietys so again check the Lesche lineup as big or small can't beat the durability and makeup of this companies products..
Thanks. My primary digger is still the handheld Lesche, but I do have a few spots where the Sampson would be acceptable. I like the looks and the capability of the new Raven but it's just too big ! And I would never be caught dead in a park with any shovel...I know better.
You can't go wrong with a Lesche. I started to buy a Sampson but went with the Relic hunter instead. I love it. I bought mine for woods and field hunting. It's 31 inches and I think the Sampson is the same length. I don't think it would work in parks. You may want to look at the Little Eagle at Predator Tools.
I just got the non-serrated Sampson and am quite happy with it. I am a bit embarrassed to mention that with my old knees, my favorite part is using it to crutch up! I was never comfortable using my MD for that, but Sampson it very well suited.

It's a nice, lightweight digger. Definately would NOT bring it to a park though. I bought it specifically for certain private properties and digging in the woods. My park tools are usually screwdrivers and occasionally my Lesche hand digger.
