Lesche or Garrett?

The Garrett worked really well for me, but I ruined it last spring. I just couldn't wait for the ground to thaw, and I bent it like a pretzel trying to dig in the frozen ground. I imagine any digger would have gotten wrecked lol. This year I am going to try the Lesche, I like the root cutting teeth on the side.

I bought mine at lowes.A heavy duty one for 10$.I used a dremol and sharpened the tips and made saw like groove teeth on both sides of edges.Works great.Be creative.

My vote is for the Letche tool....I have 2 of them and they are incredibly heavy duty. Shop around...you can find deals on them. I have tried many of the other store sold diggers and they all broke

Here's the dimensions on the Garrett digger. It has teeth on both sides of the blade. Because it's longer, I can cut a deeper plug, and get under some fat tree roots. When dealing with multiple roots, you just apply a lot of force and it cuts through the roots. The blade comes unsharpened, so you have to sharpen it.

I like the teeth down to the tip. But, would like it better if they were on the same side as the other teeth.

Jeez, looks like I'm not the only one. Myself, I put a slight permanent set into my Lesche digger by doing the same thing, going hard in half frozen ground. This year I will use my old non stainless Hori Hori first. That sucker is built like a tank but it hurts my delicate little girly wrists into the season, so I have to switch later. Sorry, I have never touched a Garrett digger.

I use the Gator Razor Edge digger from Kellyco. It is very heavy-duty and has a lifetime warranty. I did sharpen it on my belt sander since the serrations don't come sharp from the factory. It digs better than the Lesche in my opinion and is much stronger than the one from Garrett.
