LESCHE DIGGER

topman13

New member
Received my lesche digger today, took three weeks to arrive in the UK,then the customs thought they'd sting me for abit extra.Hung it off my belt and out i went with the AT PRO,it looked so good i didn't even pull it out of the holster lol.I might go in to business importing the lesche digger in to the UK.you cant buy them here.If the bloody customs duty wasn't so high id make a fortune.

They are the best! I am on my third one, as I lost the first one, had someone steal my second from a car break in, Now my third comes in the house after each hunt along with the Pro Pointer and metal detector.

Well I have to ask... are they all everyone says they are? I'm using an ames true temper, and really like it. Also have a hori-hori, and not overly fond of it. I finally broke down and bought a propointer because of all of the positive comments I heard on here about them. I won't go in the field without that now!! Is the Lesche another one of those items that after I use, I won't ever want to be without?

super glue the holster to your trousers John lol,i have so many things hanging off my belt, wont be long till my trousers come down. Its hard work remembering to load extra batteries for detector and pro pointer and find the spade and lesche digger and finds pouch, before i get to go detecting.

I think so. I love mine and just like my pro pointer, I won't go out hunting without it.:clapping:

The Lesche really is damn near indestructible. Like the Pro-pointer, I should have a second one to keep under my pillow.

I have thought of attaching strings to my digger and pinpointer, then also to myself so that I don't forget them during a hunt.

Darren - If I'm not mistaken, the Ames Planters Buddy is the actual name of the tool you are referring to. And it is an excellent digger on a budget.

I definitely think the Lesche (or Predator) is better. More comfortable and easier to use with the offset handle and way sturdier with a serious tang going way down in the handle compared to the little tang on the Planters Buddy that doesn't extend very far into the handle at all.

On the other hand, I do like the graduations embossed onto the Planters Buddy. And it does have a lifetime warranty, so save the receipt when you buy it and they'll replace it for free if you break it like I did mine.

In most soil conditions I prefer the design of the Predator Raptor to the Lesche or the Predator 75/85 or the Planters Buddy since it requires less cutting and can move more dirt in a shorter period of time.

But no digger I've upgraded to has radically improved my detecting experience like the Pro-Pointer did.

I've been using a chisel..........then a hammer and garden trowel to get thru the ice........Then the ground warmed a tad even being snow covered?..HHMMMMM.....LOL

Last year I tried several diggers. I really liked the cutting action of the Fiskars digger tool, but It didn't last long at all, the welds were weak. It was very frustrating. Canadian Tire, Wal-Mart, Home Hardware all told me I had to wait until next spring when the new garden tools come in. Screw that! When I ordered my AT Pro from Kellyco recently I had them include the new Gator Razor digging tool. I think this thing is going to work great!

I use the Ames tool got it at the local
hardware store ..good price GREAT tool
i like the cutting tip on it
the only thing is i wish it was serrated on
both sides.. makes for easier root cutttin

THINK SPRING

If you want something a little stronger than the Ames, here is a Jackson Versaplanter. It is also made by Ames but it is a professional landscaping tool. Alot stronger than the planters buddy. This one with the holder is $29.00

This is the digger I like better than the original Lesche digger. It is my favorite digger from Predator Tools.

I still like the cheaper 'Bowie' knives you can find on e-bay. If you buy one, make sure it has the 'tang' or body of
the blade go up through the handle. Great for prying. You can sometimes find them with sheaves to carry them also.
I've been carrying mine for years and never have had a problem.........very cost effective!

Topman 13 (a not so dumb question) with the strict knife and weapons laws here in the U K is the use of the Lesche Digger legal?

I detect in public areas, and the last thing I need is the police lookig for a guy with a large orange knife.

Your comments are most welcome.

Hi Les,i dont think you would get pulled for having the Lesche Digger, mine came through customs ok.it doesn't like like anything you would wanna stab someone with.My mini spade would do a good job though, lol

Received my Lesche digger today. Dug up 3 dimes and 5 pennies and I gotta say this digger is awesome. It is worth every bit of the price. It totally cuts thru sod like butter. Won't hunt again without it.

What company did you use? I tried to order from Amazon.com. They wouldn't ship to the UK. Was there any trouble with Customs? It looking like a knife. And what were the Custom charges?

Thank you

I bought a Lesche and absolutely love it. I was using a garden trowel. The Lesche was such a step up. I had trouble digging clean plugs with a garden trowel. Can dig a nice clean plug now and now leave virtually no traces of digging behind. Next up a ProPointer.
