Ok Bryce ,i need your input on something. saturday a buddy of mine found a 1892 Barber dime with a Garrett....i know, i know it should have been a minelab but well no ones perfect, right.
but anyway, he is new to modern metal detecting. he hunted with his dad when he was a kid, some 15 years ago and he has recently gotten back in the saddle and of course as FNG luck would have it he hit that real nice Barber dime. But i will say this about him...he was very thorough and persistent and he did dig alot of trash before hitting the jackpot for the day. but let me get to my question, as a reward i gave him my Lesche digger because he doesnt have the means to buy one and well i think he deserved it for his efforts.so now that i dont have one, im in the market for a new digger. but do i go back to the traditional lesche digger or should i give that Raptor a try? let me know what you think Bryce. thanks.:yo:

I ain't tellin' you NOTHIN':clapping: :crylol: :bouncy:

Seriously though....if I could have just one digger...I would definitely go with the raptor at this point.
You can dig a nice 3 sided plug...hinged plug...etc with it....and it has a ton of prying power behind it.

It the sturdiest digger I've ever used..and it is my #1 choice.

I always used only the standard Lesche digger all the previous years...and love it..but the Raptor definitey took it's place.

I also keep a standard Lesche around to dig in the rock hard ground that you have to "chisel" away at...but 90% of the time...I prefer the Raptor.

Eddie...Dig with your hands and that will level the playing field for the rest of us in Washington State.

I have both. I don't think the Raptor works for a darn in the hard dry ground we have right now. (75 days and 0 rain in the Pacific NorthWest)
When things were wetter, I left the regular Predator in the car and only used the Raptor. Bryce is absolutely right. Three pushes and you have a perfect flap laid back 3-6" deep. The biggest plus to me is the amount of loose dirt it will carry out of the hole in just one pass. The angle on the handle is uncanny. It's just perfect to allow you to dig and pry and get to the goodies. The Raptor will reduce your dig time...but right now it does not work in my neck of the woods and you are not that far away. Jim

40GZ,

Bryce are right, damp ground, the Raptor rules.
Hard dry ground or gravel, you'll appreciate the original. If you can afford both, you will be ready for anything.

Good Luck
Ron

What do you mean Jim by using my hands to level the playing field for the rest of you in Washington state? Heck, most of you have a lot more years detecting before I got into it going on seven years now. I'm just finding the stuff the rest of you left behind. HH.

Eddie

hey guys, i appreciate all your feed back. im here in south Texas and we are on our 43 day of 100 + degree heat and we havnt seen any substantial rain in well over a year. so the ground here is very dry and very hard at times. i already ordered the raptor and i was lucky enough to have a fellow hunter sell me a used but in excellent original lesche digger. so now my excavating arsenal is complete.
:yo:

I just received the Raptor from Predator tools and i got to say i didnt realize how big it is.it is a serious piece of hardware!!:surprised:
when i get the original digger i will post a side by side visual size comparison of the two. for those of you who dont have one and are wondering just how big it is, well let me tell you, you wont be disappointed! it will move some real-estate thats for sure. thanks to Bryce for his recommendation and to Pamela Lesche and Co. for a great product and SUPER fast shipping.:yo:

Bryce did you actually pay money for that coil?

I have both on me at all times. I mainly use the raptor now, but its nice when I need to reach for the original to dig into gravel and such like Bryce said.

In ground that isn't too hard or rocky the predator is ideal. For me it's a sand scoop on some hunts and the predator on others.

40GZ, I'm in west texas. almost the same boat here. we've only had about 24 days of 100 degree heat tho :crylol: .
Not sure what you have but its mostly HARD RED CLAY here. Not much different than pottery-like clay, so when it gets wet, it bakes in this heat. then it's like concrete to dig in! so i'm curious how your new digger is working.
