Lesche Digger Custom Rig

With my detector being away for repairs I can honestly say I have had way to much time on my hands. With that being said, I hated carrying my 18" Lesche Digger as I detected so I had a buddy of mine who is a Tanner/ Leather Craftsman design a belt clip with a quick snap release at the "T" handle, he also made a really nifty pouch that snaps on the shovel head which I really don't need but looks really cool. The handle was also "rubberized" with Plasti Dip so I could avoid electrocution, lol.

Anyway, I thought I'd share this with ya'll because I think it's a great way to keep your hands free while detecting. Any thoughts or ideas to improve upon this idea would also be greatly appreciated.

I have the Sampson pro ball digger.I often wondered when a short handle version would come along?.Were can i find this one you have?.You really have the digger part down pat Daytona.That is great!. :-! :-D .

Thanks SpiritRelic, I got mine from New England Detectors. They are on ebay and they have one for sale for $53.00.

Man, I don't see how you could improve on that setup. I'd love to have one of those belt clips. Any chance?

Hi,
@surfman:
Are you just looking for the clip ??

Thanks skookum but I was talking about the whole belt clip as shown in DaytonaGold's post. I have the same shovel he has only the long handle version.

Is there anyone in your area that has a leather shop? Sometimes biker shops that sells leather goods may have a Leather Craftsman on site, should only cost around $10.00 or so.

Don't know of any leather shops in my area but I'm thinking about a hammer holder from one of the home stores. Might work just wont look as cool. Oh well, thanks anyway, Joe. P.S., your guy did a great job, should last a long time.

Hi,
Most hammer holders will not work, because they have a fixed loop and the hammer is held in place by lowering the handle into it.
You will not be able to do that with a digger having a T-handle.

You could however get this clip:

and screw a piece of an old leather belt onto it.
Then go to your local shoemaker and have him install a snap to the belt, so it will open and close into a loop.
