im always hunting wood and wonder what would i have to do if i damaged the plastic lens on an explorer se . does anybody sell that cover piece.
i see 4 screws holding that cover on.can somebody give me a little info. thanks

If your talking about the screen, I think you would have to send it in to Minelab in Las Vegas to get the screen replaced. I don't think they will sell you one, for you or someone else to install. Also, you will probably void any warranty by taking the machine apart yourself. If there is no damage yet, the screen protector that has been discussed on this website is excellent for protection from scratches and I think helps increase visability of the screen in bright sunlight. The Company that makes the screen protector is not a sponser, so if their name is used on here it gets *&^%&*^ out. Here is the name (use letters of course) zee a gee gee dot com. If that gets marked out there were many posts a month or so ago about it.

Sure looks like the screen would be part of a simple decal replacement but Info from Tech's Minelab has to make the repair as actually wire connections are involved and unit would have to be taken apart so if you scratch same has to go to Minelab for repair. Personally used the above mentioned cover that now covers the whole front and not just the screen and it works great although a little pricey and takes a little patience to apply but follow directions..Hope this info helps and not endorsing any product just sharing info I have knowledge of...Again Minelab U.S.A. are easy to work with and are very informative and helpful and certainly give good service after the sale..Whether this would be covered under warranty is doubtful as Minelab does make a pullover head cover to protect the unit.

Hi,

If you read in the past forum there is a really good all clear military type after market plastic lens cover that would give supper protectiion from that type of worry. I am going to order some soon for my woods hunting as well and they make one that fits the Explorer face or head completely . Please dont ask me more as I have to go back and find it too. I read about it about 3 weeks ago.

Good Luck
