Thank you. It's a good reminder for me to use it.
 
never using one because it made the lens physically longer and I never really saw a difference with or without it, but now I have one on all my lenses for the reasons stated in the article. I like the protection factor too....if you bump the lens you hit the hood first, and I don't like putting on clear filters over the lenses. Thanks for the info!
