Learning to like the XL Pro around iron

Well-known member
Have been going to familiar places with the XL Pro to see how it acts in places I know how my other detectors act.

This evening I hit a school yard that has large iron pipes and plates in the ground that drive me nuts with my other detectors even with the sensitivity down. The Compadre had been the most useful of the bunch in the sand play yards here with the big iron plates that are down a couple of feet ... until now.

Using the 950 coil the last few hunts on the XL Pro I've found that I can not run the Sig Bal nearly as high as with the 600 coil. But still find that with the XL Pro it is very easy to tell iron and it is very good at finding targets near and around the big iron. Was running a little above the preset mark and occasionally had to raise the coil a little to keep from overloading too much on the iron plates. Pulled a couple of old beaver tail tabs at around 6 to 7 inches, some in the 4 to 5 inch range and some clad. Still looking for the first gold with the XL Pro ... it will come in time.

I am liking this detector.
Cheers,
tvr
