Learning the se...todays hunt

DFX-Gregg

Well-known member
At times my finds are going to bore you guys...but if I go out...I usually post results...good or bad...Well nothing exciting but I got out...did find a dollar bill... Practiced digging 07/25 on digital(cent signal)...yeah they were all cents... Pinpointing a lot better...no problem with the nickels....hope everyone has a great weekend!

WTG SE Gregg, I got out for one hour, was hard to find a spot with no snow or angle deep water & mud:rage:

Come on spring!!

Good Hunting!

Thats wierd Gregg....I have an XS and all the pennys are 28 cond.# except for the Indians which are usually 24-26....strange how the SE gives diff. numbers. Dimes and quarters are also 28 but the audio sounds are always different. Silvers are usually 30, but then again I find it hard to get good consistant numbers for anything...Nickles are 4-6 depending on year and how bad condition is...and depth I am sure....nothing will be text book you will learn...I wish I knew what I know now when I started....I must have walked over tons of good targets thinking it was suppose to be this or that...and the iffys it took me a long time to figure them out. I hunted a old park area and pond and knowing digital #s for tabs I walked pass tons of tabs...one day I decided to dig everything just to find something good and bam...the tab sounds where coming out old pre and post civil war bullets....but I only found those in one area and in the common areas where the kids party are tabs....so Stay safe and don't assume just because its a pulltab # that it is....always test dig everything to see whats underground...if you change locations ...do the same...if tabs are galore and at the same depth all the time and you get a tab sound but it is showing 6 or deeper and the rest were shallow...dig....just an example....good luck...and have fun(more important)

I've followed all your posts on the new machine.
You are starting out correctly y learning the basics before jumping in too deep. Your doing Great SE Gregg,

Thanks yes..sounds like the digital readings are slightly different nickels have been 10/6, 11/6, 10/5 area....cents anywhere from 3/25 7/25 to /29..... the silver dime the other day was 3/28....maybe ground conditions play a role:shrug:

Thanks! I am going one step..one signal at a time... No hurry I can already tell this machine is special...:clapping::detecting:

Have a tendency to try what the more experienced ones are doing and get totally confused or frustrated. Glad to see you taking your time.

I hunted with iron mask at factory set for a whole summer when I first started out. Then I experimented. Next came all metal and ferrous sounds and so on.
The thing is, I enjoyed the hunt and didn't let myself get technically involved until I was ready. The explorer line of machines are all preset to turn on and go. As with most other brands. This is done for a reason. So you can enjoy your machine right out of the box.

I'm glad you post the whole dig, Gregg.

Let's us see the ratio, and make determinations of where different things are falling in the spectrum.

Thanks!

Gregg,Thanks for sharing the signal strengths , I have written them down as this is going to help me allot . I was at the pawn shop yesterday and saw they had two whites coin-master II for 79 bucks each was thinking about getting one for the wife and to have a back-up you think thats a fair price?

Good job Gregg, you are gonna have it down in no time! I love my SE, especially with that new Sun Ray probe. I am enjoying reading your posts on learning your machine.
