These are 2 of my finds for the 1 hour I was out, not real good compared to some of the finds we see posted here, but impressive to me as I am learning my Explorer after many hours of use.
These both were down 8 or 9 inches and both were beside rusty nails I got with the 8 inch Stealth coil. Thes also where in a areas that has been hamered by every body with all brands of detectors in the last 30 years as they were next to the band stand at a very old park.
I decided to try anyway, but did it differntly as i went real slow and listened close and any signal that was deep (max out the depth meter) and tried to ID it before I dug with the info I have learned with this detector. Every one I thought were nails were and several I thought were coins were also nails, but these 2 I would have bet were coins as they were broken signal but always in the same spot every time and when I went to pinpoint they were also broken up as nails will move and also in pinpoint they may be louder than in disc.
The IH is like new with no wear, so I figured it has been there since around 1902-1905 while the 1917 wheatie is also like new too and would have been lost before the 20s.
I was using my pattern where the top of the screen looks like my iron mask would at a -9 and the bottom is blacked out other than a small area for the nickles as i dont want to hear the other junk that would be loud as i wanted the oldie that are deep and if listening to loud signals i would not hear the weak ones.
My sensitivty was at 29 manual and my gain at 8 and i went real slow and listened to those weaker signal and if the were deep high pitched and didnt move and they were notloud in pinpoint I dug. I did dig around 15 rusty nails too.
I wish the picture would come out better as the IH is very nice when you see it, but dont look too good when I scanned it.
